You know anyone that makes logos?  If I had a dollar for every time I heard that, I would hire a marketing company and have them build me a brand.  If you ever wonder if it’s time to get a logo, you are missing out. Let me say this for the people in the back…. YOU DON’T NEED A LOGO.  Don’t get stuck in the idea that a logo is just an icon for your company.  It means so much more than that.  At least it should.  So, what do you need?  I am glad you asked.  You need a legit brand.  I know, I know, semantics right??? No, there is a distinct difference and if you miss it, you are short changing your business, your idea, your passion.

So, what is a logo?

A logo is a key piece of the pie that is your brand.  So many companies launch with this idea of all I need is a name and a logo, then the rest will take care of itself.  No it won’t!!!  What does your logo say about how you do business?  What does your logo say about your personality?  When someone looks at your logo, is there a psychological connection to your business?  Most of the time, no.  The only way that can happen, is either you luck into it, or you invested in intentionally designing a brand.

OK, so what’s a brand?

Now you are asking the good questions.  Your brand is the way that your client/customer/world connects to your business.  It’s not just a name, not just a logo, not just a catch phrase.  Your brand says, here is who I am and this is how I do business.  Your brand is the logo, the slogan, the website, the social media posts, the business cards, the way you shake a hand (or bump an elbow) when someone first finds out about your company, the colors that bring it all together, and the emotion behind all of it.  Why would you ever want a logo, when you can have a brand?  When you have a brand, you no longer wonder if you should post this on Facebook or TikTok, you just simply have to ask, does this fit my brand. Developing a brand requires intense understanding of your company, your service or product, and your very distinct customer.  I know what you’re thinking. NO, not everyone is your customer.  Having a clear brand says, I would rather have 100 absolutely devoted fans, than have a thousand customers.

Now what?

If you are considering getting a logo design from fiver, stop.  Ask some questions, not about what you want it to look like.  Ask, what you want people to feel when they see your logo.  Ask how your business can create an unique and memorable mark on the world. Thinking too big you say?  Is there such a thing?  If you aren’t thinking big, then you are free to go back to your regularly scheduled programs.  That’s all I have to say about that….
